Psychotherapist

The decision to begin counseling is an important one, which signifies that an individual, couple, or family has decided that it’s time for change – either within themselves, their relationships, or in their day-to-day life.

Counseling is an excellent resource for discovering your strengths, making changes, and for healing from past adversity. Whether you’re struggling with feelings of sadness and grief, anxiety, relationship challenges, or past trauma, counseling can help you explore and discover more about yourself and your patterns of being and relating. With enhanced understanding about yourself, relationships, and your life experiences, you’re better equipped to take steps that promote healing and wellbeing.

To this process, I bring over 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and educator. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families with diverse cultural backgrounds, and ranging in age from adolescence, to adulthood, to seniors.

In addition to my Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in Counseling Psychology, I have specialized training and experience in the following areas:

- Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

- Couples and Family Therapy

- Intimate Partner Violence

- Motivational Interviewing

- Grief and Loss

- Evidence-based approaches to family strengthening: Family Check-Up ® and Everyday Parenting

- Trauma-informed and shame-sensitive practices, including recovery and healing from childhood abuse as well as victimization online.

I view the therapy relationship as a sacred space, where new ways of feeling, thinking, and behaving can be explored and understood, leading to improvements in mood, sleep, relationships, quality of life, and a clearer sense of meaning and purpose. It is a privilege to work with clients on their journeys of self-discovery, empowerment, and healing.
